Abstract

The non-periodic antiphase boundaries of the Au 3Zn(H)-structure have been studied by means of high resolution electron microscopic structure imaging. At atomic resolution level two different types of antiphase boundaries were resolved. The antiphase vectors for these boundaries are R = 1 2 [101] and R = 1 2 [112] . The APB's 1 2 [101] are generally inclined slightly from the (100) plane and APB's 1 2 [112] consist of successive stripes lying step by step parallel to the [100] direction.
