Abstract

Inadvertent suturing of drains is an unusual occurrence. During attempted removal, traction is applied to the protruding end of the drain resulting in unacceptable discomfort to the patient with the attempt being abandoned or tearing of the drain usually close to the suture site. Percutaneous removal under fluoroscopic control is a safe alternative to operative removal.
