Abstract

A quadratic rectangular finite element having five degrees of freedom at each node is used in carrying out the non-linear free vibration analysis of a sandwich plate. The formulation includes the effects of large deformations and rotations as well as stretching, bending and transverse shear. A number of geometric and material parameters for a three-layered sandwich configuration under different boundary conditions are considered for a detailed study.
