NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA IN THE MANDIBULAR BRANCH: A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Lymphomas are neoplasms caused by aberrant transformations of lymphoid cells that are predominant in lymphoid tissues. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) can reach several organs, including the oral cavity. The aim of this study is to relate a case of oral NHL. A 48-year-old male patient, with a history of treatment between 2014 and 2019 for NHL, was admitted for diagnostic investigation of discomfort in the lower limbs, significant anemia, hepatosplenomegaly and generalized pain in the mandible, dental mobility, and purulent secretion. A facial computed tomography exam showed a lytic area in the left posterior region of the mandible, with ill-defined limits and an infiltrating aspect. Due to the history of NHL and possibility of dissemination, tooth extraction and biopsy of the adjacent tissue were performed, resulting in a diagnosis of infiltration by NHL. The patient was referred for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and is under follow-up.
