Abstract

Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) channels are considered as cellular sensors responding to an impressively wide spectrum of external stimuli, including light, sound, chemicals, temperature, and touch, as well as, to alterations of cell environment concerning for instance changes in osmolarity, activation of several kinases or interaction with intracellular proteins. TRPs constitute thus multiple signal integrators, to external and endogenous stimuli, contributing to the cell-to-cell communication, and maintain many forms of homeostasis critical implicated in health and ageing.
