Abstract

This paper presents a study of the non-equilibrium ionization of a suspension of two kinds of solid particles expanding supersonically in a nozzle. In particular the lowering of the ionization due to the injection of a certain amount of high work function solid particles is examined. The results obtained show the importance of taking into account the non-equilibrium effects connected with the expansion, as the lowering is then much less than in the equilibrium case.
