Abstract

Paroxysmal movements and behaviors can be a source of confusion in differentiating between epileptic seizure events and parasomnias. The semiology can overlap, children may have both disorders, and the witness account is often limited, the parents missing the onset. Parasomnias are undesirable physical events or experiences that occur during entry into sleep, within sleep, or during arousal from sleep. They include sleep related movements, and complex behaviors and perceptions including with intense autonomic symptoms [1].
