Abstract

Background Inappropriately high LV mass (iLVM) other than LV hypertrophy is also known to be related to the cardiovascular prognosis. But the underlying pathogenic mechanisms are not fully understood. Nocturnal blood pressure (BP) was hypothesized to be related to iLVM due to the potentially undetected pressure overload or diurnal blood pressure variation. Methods 255 hypertensive patients regardless of hypertension medications were analyzed whom both ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and echocardiographic LV data were available.
