Abstract

Non-contiguous multi-level intervertebral disc prolapse (IDP) has been rarely reported, as well as post-traumatic disc herniation. This was previously limited to the thoracic spine [1]. In 1992, Hsu et al 31 observed the unique occurrence of skip (non-contiguous) level degeneration (SLDD) of the lumbar spine [2]. This was further studied in 2010 and seemed to be underreported [3]. We present the unique case of a patient with acute noncontiguous, two-level lumbar disc herniation who presented with acute monoparesis. To our knowledge, no such case has been reported in the literature.
