Abstract

The tuning characteristics of non-collinear double QPM (NDQPM)optical parametric amplification with single periodically poled RbTiOAsO4 (PPRTA) for the pump 526nm and 800nm have been investigated theoretically. The double phase matching can be realized over wider regions of the mid-infrared when grating period Λ is selected properly. The combination of temperature tuning and poling period tuning enables a very wide quasi-continuous wavelength tuning range. The tolerance parameters of non-collinear angles, poling period, signal wavelength and phase matching temperature are investigated theoretically. The study shows that the poling period tolerance and the temperature tolerance of PPRTA are lager than that of PPKTP for the pump 526nm. Angle tuning range, broadband tuning range and temperature tuning range of PPRTA are also larger than that of PPKTP for the pump 526nm. The output pulse duration of PPRTA is shorter than that of PPKTP for pump 526nm. Hence, PPRTA is an excellent periodically poled material. But both angle tolerances are all very small, and it is very important to keep the accurate non-collinear angles in experiment.
