Abstract

NAFLD (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease) is anticipated to be the leading cause of liver failure in the future. Young women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), are at an increased risk for NAFLD as a complication of obesity which often accompanies PCOS. This abstract will review a case of NAFLD in an adolescent with PCOS and demonstrate the value of a non-invasive quantitative quick magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique for early diagnosis and quantitative grading of hepatic steatosis which may be of benefit to both pediatric and reproductive-aged female patients.
