Abstract

The authors study polarization-switching dynamics in (Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3 (BNT), a leading Pb-free ferroelectric material. In situ high-energy synchrotron x-ray diffraction shows that switching occurs via non-180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} intermediate domain states, and a model to describe the polarization reversal is proposed.
