Abstract

Several reductions to synonymy in the genus Fissidens and retention of the genus Nanobryum are proposed. The status of Barbula subcalycina is discussed. Fourteen species of mosses new to Australia, all with tropical affinities, are recorded and the unique protonema of Calomnion with ornamented cell walls, a feature not previously reported for a protonema, is described.
