Abstract
This article analyses new approaches to early drama through investigating the mystery play pageant concerning Christ's appearance as a gardener to Mary Magdalene. In particular the article draws on approaches from iconographical studies, feminist readings, modern-day restagings and dance theory to argue that the gestures of the past can find a voice in the present.
