Abstract
A new scheme for high-gain, noise-free amplification by two-beam coupling in a photorefractive KNbO 3:Fe crystal, using the beam fanning effect, is described, in which the signal beam passes through the crystal in the direction of the positive C-axis. Large values (∼ 900) of the signal beam gain are achieved.
