Abstract

Active RC filters are of great interest because of their suitability for microelectronic realizations. However, realizations of individual filters in microelectronic form are not economical. Thus a necessary step is the standardization of basic active filter building blocks. Noise in active filters has not been considered in the literature, but noise performance might well be an important factor in the development of standardized microelectronic circuits. This paper stresses the need for consideration to be given to noise properties, and a method of noise analysis is developed which is convenient to incorporate in normal active filter designs.
