Abstract

The theory of equilibrium enthalpy fluctuations in resistors is presented. Measurements of excess noise in an electrolyte resistor are compared with the Green’s function for change in resistance caused by changes in power dissipation. The two measurements are found to obey a relationship predicted by thermodynamics.
