Abstract
The authors present a detailed analysis of the time-averaging interpolation technique (TAI) used in digital to analogue converters (D/As). A new method is developed which provides a comprehensive model of the interpolation mechanism. The analysis reveals that there are three distinct parameters which contribute to the baseband noise of an interpolative system. Interpolation noise of different TAI schemes can be analysed using the new method and the fundamental relationship between various schemes can be established.
