Abstract

In WSN, the sensor node may fail because of the low cost and the complex deployment environment. This paper proposes a node fault detection algorithm based on spatial and temporal correlation. This method adopts the spatial and temporal correlation of the measured data between the node and its neighbours to determine the state of node. Firstly, the sensor node detects the state by the temporal correlation of its measured value, to determine whether the node is abnormal; if abnormal, the node calculates the similarity with neighboring nodes based on spatial correlation, to further confirm the state of node. The simulation results show that the proposed detection mechanism can achieve higher fault detection accuracy and lower false alarm rate comparing with the DFD algorithm and the TSC algorithm.
