Abstract

Noctuiseius treati, a new genus and species of moth mite is described from a noctuid moth Achaea janata (L.). The host moths were collected in Hawaii and on Easter Island. The mite adults and nymphs were found in the external parts of both ears of A. janata and were mainly in the external cleft between the thorax and abdomen, under the tegulae, and around the wing bases.
