Abstract

Thin films of a series of monomeric and polymeric metal phthalocyanines with different center atoms (cobalt and copper) were prepared on interdigitated capacitor or quartz microbalance devices. The coating was performed from solution followed by subsequent evaporation of the solvents. These devices have been tested for their use as NO 2 resistance and mass sensitive sensors. Particularly high sensitivity, reversibility and fast response times were obtained for nickel t-butyl phthalocyanine (Ni-btPc) at room temperature and for poly[cyano(cobalt tetracarboxy phthalocyanine)] [(Co-taPcCN) n ] at 100 °C.
