Abstract
Summary: 1) Regional T2 relaxation time differs physiologically in human white brain matter, especially at high field intensities. 2) The consequential influence on the brain-to-lesion contrast has to be taken into account when suspecting pathology. 3) The signal of T2W is influenced by T2 and T1 relaxation times, spin density, diffusion and flow artefacts.
