Abstract

A female neonate (40 weeks; 3 290 g weight) was diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm (3.3 cm × 2.9 cm) and asymptomatic thrombosis of the left common iliac artery, confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography at birth (A, arrow). Because of the difficulty of aorto-iliac reconstruction, progressive expansion and the extensive collateral network at nine months old, the infrarenal aorta (B, arrow) and right common iliac artery were ligated, after a one hour occlusion test with perfusion monitoring of the lower extremities and intestines. The post-operative period was uneventful and at 12 months the child remains asymptomatic.
