Abstract

We present a study of the effects of interatomic multiatom resonant photoemission monitored by soft x-ray emission. The partial fluorescence yield of certain transitions $\mathrm{F}K\ensuremath{\alpha}$ and $\mathrm{C}K\ensuremath{\alpha}$ is measured while the excitation energy is scanned through the higher lying thresholds $(\mathrm{La}{M}_{4.5}$ and $\mathrm{Ti}{L}_{2,3},$ respectively) of the neighboring atoms in the multicomponent systems $({\mathrm{LaF}}_{3}{,\mathrm{T}\mathrm{i}}_{x}{\mathrm{Nb}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}\mathrm{C}).$ No evidence for a resonant enhancement in the fluorescence signal as suggested by the multiatom resonant photoemission effect is found.
