Abstract

The health of the nation hinges in part on the quality of medical practice, which in turn hinges on the quality of medical education. Hence, every person has an interest in knowing the answers to some basic questions about the education of future physicians. What have the 18,000 students who graduate every year from US MD-granting medical schools been taught, how were these lessons delivered, and what evidence do we have that they actually learned what they were expected to? More specifically, what can radiology faculty members and practicing radiologists do to improve the quality of medical education and the quality of medical care?
