Abstract

A prospective cohort study conducted in Sweden has concluded that fathers' use of an antidepressant around the time of conception had no adverse effect on a number of birth or early childhood outcomes in their offspring. The researchers found that, overall, results were more favorable for children of fathers who used an antidepressant around the time of conception compared with fathers who initiated antidepressant treatment later in the mother's pregnancy.
