Abstract
In May 2018, the American Cancer Society (ACS) updated guidelines to recommend colorectal cancer (CRC) screening at age 45 years for persons at average risk. 1 Wolf A.M.D. et al. CA Cancer J Clin. 2018; 68: 250-281 Crossref PubMed Scopus (780) Google Scholar Fedewa et al 2 Fedewa S.A. et al. Cancer. 2020; 126: 1351-1353 Crossref PubMed Scopus (17) Google Scholar reported that CRC screening participation among adults aged 45–49 years increased from 4.8% in early 2018 to 11.7% in late 2018, coincident with updated ACS guidelines. It is unknown whether this initial increase persisted as guidelines were implemented. To address this gap, we examined trends in CRC screening participation through 2019 in a nationally representative sample.
