Abstract

Vitrification is a relatively new technique, today widely applied in a large number of IVF centers. However, little is known about risks of prolonged storage of cryopreserved embryos as vitrification is the solidification of a fluid without formation of crystalline structures - a physically disorganized unstable system. This raises the question if this state changes over time, impairing survival and implantation potential of vitrified embryos and health of children born.
