Abstract

Abstract We studied the effect of aspirin versus placebo on plasma β-thromboglobulin levels in 21 healthy volunteers in a double blind randomized cross over study. The administration of 600 mg of aspirin per day for a one week period resulted in the inhibition of collagen-induced platelet aggregation and of in vitro serotonin release, however no effect could be demonstrated on plasma β-thromboglobulin levels. β-Thromboglobulin values revealed a high degree of reproducibility within individuals.
