Abstract

1. The chelate cobalt complex Co(II)N, N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine [Co(Salen)] is an effective catalyst for NAD-H oxidation in methanol at room temperature. 2. The rate of oxidation is closely dependent on the structure of the complex catalyst and the composition of the solvent. 3. The mechanism of Co(Salen) complex catalytic activity in NAD-H autooxidation is discussed in terms of three proposed reaction schemes.
