Abstract

We have performed 195 Pt and 59 Co NMR measurements to study microscopic magnetic properties of two-dimensional itinerant magnets PtCoO 2 and PdCoO 2 with the delafossite-type structure. 195 Pt and 59 Co Knight shifts are almost independent of temperature and the 195 Pt nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/ 195T 1 obeys the relation ( 195T 1T) −1=3.84±0.16 K −1 s −1. These facts show that PtCoO 2 and PdCoO 2 are Pauli paramagnets described by the Fermi-liquid picture without the strong electron–electron interaction.
