Abstract

The complexation reaction of 30-crown-10 (30C10) with Ca2+, Sr2+, Pb2+ and Ba2+ ions in a various deuterated acetonitrile–dimethyformamide binary mixtures was studied using proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The complexes were found to have a 1:1 ratio and their stability is in the order of Ba2+ > Pb2+ > Sr2+ > Ca2+. It was observed that the donicity of the solvents as expressed by the Gutmann donor numbers and stability of the resulting complexes have an inverse relationship.
