Abstract

The results of 89Y and 59Co NMR spin echo investigations carried out at 4.2 K for (Y 1- x Gd x ) 2Co 17 compounds are reported and discussed. To explain the line intensities in yttrium spectra the segregation of Y and Gd atoms has been assumed. The analysis of line positions in Y and Co spectra was made assuming the RKKY interactions of Gd atoms. It is concluded that the Gd interactions have a short range character, and that the RKKY description of the band electron polarisation by Gd moments is valid for the nearest neighbours only. The value of k F is also estimated and discussed.
