Abstract

The dispersion number of 44 maturations ponds was computed by using four different models. Temperature ranged from 23.0 to 28.7o C. Findings showed that dispersion number was weak in predicting organic matter and fecal coliform content in effl uent of maturation ponds. Shallow ponds favor increment of pH and DO, resulting in higher FC removal. BOD removal in maturation ponds can be estimated as 20 %. Fecal coliform removal was higher in secondary and tertiary maturation ponds (about 1.0 Log). In primary maturation ponds FC removal was about 0.78 Log.
