Abstract
The Jeffries Framework of Simulation (2005) identifying five major constructs— teacher, student, educational practices, simulation design characteristics and outcomes—had its origins as an academic structure. The singular term Student was used to identify and refer to the participant in simulation. However, as simulation in healthcare has evolved, so have the purposes of simulation and therefore, the types of participants. An extensive literature review and concept analysis uncovered a broader view of the construct.
