Abstract

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)-derived liver metastasis represents a major unmet medical need. Liu etal. show that circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from the hepatic portal vein (HPV), and not from primary or metastatic sites, are protected from natural killer (NK) cells through the NKG2A/HLA-E axis. Interfering with this pathway unleashes NK cells and prevents PDAC metastasis.
