Abstract

Resume The energy levels of the odd-proton nucleus 177 Ta have been studied from the electron-capture decay of 2.2. h 177 W by means of magnetic spectrometers (axial, high-resolution permanent field, with and without pre-acceleration, iron-free double focussing), Si(Li), Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) detectors and a proportional counter. Multidimensional coincidences (γ-γ and e-γ) involving time measurement have been performed with various combinations of these detectors. A level scheme is presented where the following intrinsic Nilsson states are identified in 177 Ta: 7 2 + [404] , ground; 9 2 − [514] at 73.15 keV; 3 2 + [411] at 865.0 keV; and the first rotational levels built on the 5 2 + [402] state at 70.45 keV; the 1 2 − [541] state at 186.2 keV; the 1 2 + [411] state at 487.6 keV. The transition probabilities of these levels and log ƒt values of the 177 W decay are deduced.
