Abstract

Abstract The application of organic matter, in the form of barnyard manure or compost, has been well employed as a way to improve soil fertility. Recently, it has become more difficult to supply these organic manures because of shortage of manpower and exhaustion of organic matter resources. As a result, the amount of organic manures actually supplied to, crop-fields has been decreasing year by year, and it has become of greater importance to assess whether organic matter has any significant indispensable effect on soil fertility.
