Abstract

An application of sulphur (upto 90 ppm) alone or in combination with phosphorus and nitrogen, increased the content of total nitrogen, protein nitrogen and total soluble nitrogen but decreased amide, amino, ammoniacal and nitrate nitrogen and with further increase in dose, all the nitrogen fractions decreased. Higher doses of nitrogen in combination with sulphur increased the content of amide nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen in leaves only at 15 and 30 days stages. Higher doses of phosphorus in combination with sulphur and nitrogen decreased the content of all nitrogen fractions in leaves. All the nitrogen fractions decreased in age except the amide and ammoniacal nitrogen which increased upto 30 days and then started decreasing.
