Abstract

The 14N n.m.r. spectra of a variety of sulphur–nitrogen heterocycles and metal–sulphur–nitrogen complexes have been recorded and the observed shifts correlated with bonding type. The utility of 14N n.m.r. spectroscopy as a mechanistic tool in sulphur–nitrogen chemistry is illustrated for reactions in liquid ammonia.
