Abstract

We describe primers and PCR conditions to amplify seven tetranucleotide loci and two dinucleotide loci isolated from the Malagasy poison frog Mantella crocea. In 21 individuals from Ambohitantely Reserve, the number of alleles ranged from 3 to 15, observed heterozygosities from 24 to 95%. No evidence for linkage disequilibrium was found, but four loci deviated significantly from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium, possibly due to presence of null alleles.
