Abstract
Newly graduating physicians prefer employed positions over independent positions. Reasons for this shift are numerous and varied. Nonetheless, upcoming and recent graduates may find themselves in a situation wherein the job they desire is unworkable. Many physicians continue to thrive independently, both seasoned and new. There are primary considerations that a physician should consider in deciding if an independent practice is a proper fit, and if so how to navigate the independent world successfully. If done correctly, an independent medical practice will likely lead to higher job satisfaction than an employed position.
