Abstract

Nigeria's crude oil, natural gas and proven coal reserves are estimated to be 16 × 10 9 barrels, 3 × 10 12m 3 and 3.67 × 10 8mt, respectively. At present, nearly 80, 15.4, 3.5, and 1.1% of Nigeria's energy demands are derived from crude oil, natural gas, hydropower, and coal, respectively. At the current rate of energy consumption, Nigeria's energy reserves will last to the end of the 21st century.
