Abstract
The recent election of Mrs. Fatou Bensouda of the Gambia as the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on 12 December 2011 to succeed the current Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo of Argentina who finishes his term in June 2012 and Dr. Chile Eboe-Osuji of Nigeria election as a Judge of the ICC on 16 December 2011 is a remarkable achievement showcasing the quality of legal education in Nigeria given the calibre of Mrs. Bensouda and Dr. Chile Eboe-Osuji, who both studied and had their legal training in Nigeria. This paper is a commentary on the applicability of International law particularly branches of Public International law and the Rome Statute in domestic Nigeria law. This paper further analysis the system of appointment of Judges in Nigeria in light of the election of Dr. Chile Eboe-Osuji as a Judge of the ICC.
