Abstract

The literature of nicotinic acid deficiency in the pig and guineapig has been reviewed. It has been confirmed that a necrotic enteritis may occur in the young pig which is provided with a “pellagra-producing” diet, and which is not infected with Salmonella suipestifer. A “pellagra-producing” diet failed to support life or health in the young guinea-pig, and proved less suitable than a normal stock diet even when supplemented by 15 per cent. of brewer's yeast.
