Abstract

A description is given of the Nichols chart design software which allows the user to enter the open loop transfer function in either polynomial or factored form. It performs all the necessary calculations and displays, using a menu-driven prompt system, the Nichols chart with the open loop transfer function superimposed. The sensitivity function can also be displayed. Three practical control systems are examined with this software: a printwheel control system and sun seekers with phase lead and phase lag compensation.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
