Abstract

We present an application of impurity-induced nuclear spin-lattice relaxation theory for 63 Cu NQR in YBa 2(Cu 1− x Ni x ) 4O 8 ( x=0–0.02, T c=82–15 K) to obtain separately the planar Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/ T 1) HOST due to the host Cu electron spin fluctuations and the Ni-induced Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/ τ 1). The absence of nuclear spin diffusion in space, the presence of local moment in the underscreened Kondo state and the moment in the pseudo-spin-gap ensure the application for the high- T c superconductors. It is shown that the Ni impurity with low x does not destroy the host Cu antiferromagnetic correlation nor the pseudo spin-gap.
