Abstract

This publication describes a first general protocol for the cross-coupling of both unactivated and activated secondary halides with aryl metal substrates. Virtually all types of secondary bromides and activated chlorides like α-bromo ketones, α-bromo esters and nitriles as well as unactivated bromoalkanes can be used. Due to its versatility, this method may find a good application in the combinatorial-like synthesis of biologically active molecules, where an expeditive functionalization of a core structure is needed.
