Abstract
The NHS needs to champion women as leaders and boost their numbers in clinical commissioning groups, their membership body NHS Clinical Commissioners has said. The organisation said that women were under-represented on CCGs and that the lack of balance was unfair and weakened CCGs’ performance. CCGs should develop a talent management programme to identify, support, and nurture women who had the potential to be clinical leaders, it said. NHS England should also appoint a champion for women in clinical leadership and regularly publish data on representation of women, it argued.
