Abstract
For 12 proton sponges the p K a values and the heats of their monoprotonation were measured. The protonation reaction heats reflected very well the formation of stable NHN + intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The intramolecular NHN + hydrogen bond parameters were calculated and compared with the experimental crystallographic data.
